Yesterday my mother-in-law, 2 year old son and i were scheduled to be picked up to go to the airport at 3:45am for a 6am flight. I scheduled the ride some 2 days in advance, received a confirmation email and a receipt for the rides cost of $57.50.
At 3:30am, my uber app started a countdown of 15 minutes until my driver was scheduled to arrive at 3:45.
No one showed up.
At 3:55am the app notified me that there were no drivers available, and that i should try again.
This caused me to have to run over 1 mile away to borrow a family members car, and then to race down a dangerous canyon, park at a 3rd party parking lot near the airport, get shuttled in, and barely make our flight as they were closing the gate.
Family members of mine then had to miss work in order to pick up the borrowed car. All in all this cost hundreds of dollars and an unbelievable amount of stress.
User's recommendation: Uber blindly accepts ride reservations and won’t communicate with you if they can’t deliver a driver.
